My favorite new technique from my Handmade Jewelry class at UCLA extension. Second quarter with Coleen Gee.

This ring took many many weeks and design ideas to evolve in to its final state. The center stone is Sugilite and weighs over 20 carats and my middle finger is a size 5 1/2.  Needless to say the ring takes up most of my finger, therefore the design had to be simple.  The stars are applies using another new technique for me, sweat soldering (Soldering two parts by precoating with solder and merging them by application of heat.)

Master jeweler and UCLA instructor, Ralph Goldstein, says it takes 60 bezels before you can consider yourself an expert! I believe him! I’m currently on number 3.

My hair has had the good fortune of Brig‘s treatment for the last 12 years and now I get to cheer her on

as she competes for the title of Shear Genius!

If you have seen her, you know she is not only talented but as unique as they come!

In the upcoming episode she wears one of my creations, the Warrior Princess necklace. You can see the piece in this clip about :34 seconds in.

It is an honor to have her as a muse and I hope she keeps kicking ass!

Manhattan Beach Hometown Festival is this weekend, October 3rd & 4th. I’ll be sharing with Michelle Caplan as we kick off this fair season in the heart of beautiful Manhattan Beach.

Mindful Nest is a beautiful artisan’s gallery located in the heart of Burbank.

I have been friends with founder, Amanda, for over 10 years! She has thoughtfully chosen true craftspeople whose passion emanates through the varied mediums on display.

Mix that up with Klean Bath and Beauty being concocted by Jennifer in her cozy studio on location and you will never want to leave.

Those who get great pleasure out of giving – beware. 

So, I’m going to a wedding tomorrow of a dear friend of mine (see Weddings page update next week.) Her bridesmaids will all be wearing HannahMade…I already saw one of the girls wearing it casually this afernoon! How great is that?!

But what should I wear? I think some fabulous earrings are in order to give this pretty-prints in purple and pink jersey dress  a little finesse.
